There is one exception to this in which I added (some fan lighthearted service for long time fans of the series) if you can spot it. I tried to reproduce the FMV look as much as I could in the in-game engine with detailed skin, lips, and materials. Texture design and art direction came heavy from original texture and then blended with attempts to add the details seen in the FMV sequences in FFX. So if VRAM issues arise please use the 4k version. I noticed no performance hit with the 8K version but I was only running that 1 texture replacement. That said, for those that think 8K is absurd or just too demanding I have included a 4K version which retains most of the details. Overall, I am am happy with the way the 8K turned out, it allowed me to capture the facial details and other fine details I wanted to see in game.

In short, don't fear trying the 8K, it works pretty well in this game(so far). So this texture in it's 8k form is about the equivalent (in VRAM) to a modern game using a 4k diffuse, 2k spec, and 2k normal which happens all the time. Modern games use a diffuse map, a spec map, a normal map, and more. Also in this game's case 8K isn't that demanding when you consider we are only working with 1 texture format, the diffuse map.

We don't typically see 8k textures in modern games yet because these games give a set of textures for the face and head, and then a separate set for the body there for allowing more detail per texture.

So if I was to come anywhere near close the standard 2k and 4k faces in today's games I needed a larger starting size. This means that his face only takes up about 1/8 (if that) of the texture. Yes, but please hear me out! FFX is old and they mapped all of Tidus's face, hair, clothing, legs, hands, feet, and torso all to just 1 texture (with a couple of exceptions depending on the model). The texture comes in a whopping 8K version and a "standard" 4K version. This is my attempt to SUPER HD re-texture Tidus.
